Improving the quality of human life is only achievable through continuous and sustainable scientific development in all aspects of life. One of the primary priorities for achieving sustainable development is the careful review of issues related to research ethics and engineering ethics. The damages and losses resulting from neglecting research and engineering ethics have caused significant, and sometimes irreparable, harm to the body of knowledge and the process of scientific development on one hand, and to people's lives and the environment on the other.
Focusing on research ethics and engineering ethics means exploring the foundations and applications of ethical principles in research and engineering, properly educating these principles, providing ethical guidelines, and addressing misconduct seriously and appropriately.
In recent years, unfortunately, we have witnessed a detachment of part of the research and engineering community from these principles. Therefore, by educating and training researchers, scientists, and engineers committed to ethical principles, we can contribute to a healthy scientific development process. One of the goals of IEEE Iran Section, especially in recent years, has been raising public awareness about engineering ethics.
